Fixing your skin

Updated: Nov 20, 2022

For todays blog I want to share with you something I read that totally resonates with me. I have been working with skin for the last 30 years. I have worked with 100s (no exaggeration) of skincare ranges. I know skincare and I know skin, I know what is real and I know what is gimmick. I know the ingredients that work and I know the ingredients that have the best of intentions but just don’t gel with the skin. I know there is way more to treating skin disorders than what we rub on the surface. I am elbows deep !!!!

The following was written by Robyn Mc Alpine………. I love her

Skin fixing.

It’s about the biology of cells. Our skin is one of our vital organs. Yep, like your brain, heart , liver and kidneys, our skin is actually the biggest organ we have! (And it’s vital. Without it we’d die) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If your heart was misbehaving, you wouldn’t browse online for heart medication, using the discount code of an influencer who said it was ‘amazing’ so you have to try it....  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You’d be straight in to see the person who has spent years learning about hearts and spends their days elbow deep in people’s chest cavities! You don’t mess around with heart health.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And if someone who has a lot of Followers started going on about kidney failure and was suggesting their favourite brands and products ‘just hit the link in my bio’ you’d think they’d lost their marbles and would not for one second believe them. You’d be straight off to the guy who dissected a kidney in high school biology and loved it so much that he now does it for a living!  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So why do we treat our skin differently?

Why, when our skin misbehaves do we turn our nearest trusty influencer with a discount code, who is paid to talk about skin ‘care’ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don’t think for a second they’re aren’t nice person with good intentions. But you wouldn’t trust your lungs, liver, or brain to a person on the internet with good intentions.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Next time your skin throws a Sh*t Fit, say hello to someone who is elbows deep in skin all day, who lives to know everything there is to know about the cells that hold us in!! Your skin with thank you for it (and by thank you, I mean respond by showing up in its happiest, healthiest version of itself!!)
